Rewind back to Dec 3rd...
ESTIMATED SIZE
- Weighs almost 17 lbs! All that food is adding up! He eats an entire banana in one sitting.
- Length = 27ish inches - Not much change here.
- Wearing 9 and 12 month outfits but they are way too long! He steps on the feet and sometimes pops the buttons open and his feet stick out.

DAY TO DAY
- Happy baby! Our little fusspot has turned into the happiest baby on the block. He is always smiling and laughing, which is so much better than whining!
- More like a kid than a baby! Now that Jack is crawling all over the place and playing with toys, he is so much fun. He hardly seems like a baby to me anymore. He's getting so big!
- Loving home daycare - We started him in a home daycare and he's loving it. There is one other little boy there Anthony who is 18 months and they are buddies. Jack follows him around all day and acts like a big kid. He is also starting to get on more of a schedule because of it. Wake up at 6:30, dropped off at 8:30, breakfast at 9:30, nap from 10 - 11, lunch at 12, nap from 2-4pm, and an afternoon stroll at 4pm. We pick him up at 5pm and that's where the routine stops...
- Lots of variance - Even though Jack is getting on a schedule with daycare, there has been a lot of variance when he's with us. We traveled to Atlanta early in the month and that turned his schedule upside down. Then he got sick for a week or two and my dad came to visit for Thanksgiving, so we haven't been so good about being consistent.
- Bedtime woes - I have gotten so lax about bedtime lately. I wait until Jack seems tired then try to put him down. He inevitably gets a second wind when I'm nursing him and wants to crawl all over the bed so I bring him back out to the living room to play for a while. Then I try "second bedtime" - the same thing all over again. That is usually a fail also, so then there is a "third bedtime" - which usually works or I just give up and go to bed with him around 9pm.

MILESTONES / FIRSTS
- Pulling up! And the mobility continues! Jack is now pulling up on everything he can reach!
- Playpen napping Ms Mary at daycare has just started putting him down in a playpen. She says he only cries for 2 min and then falls right asleep. We haven't tried it at home yet but we are about to start following her lead to make it easier for him to sleep at daycare... :/
- First Thanksgiving! With Grandpa Ace, Grandma Dawn and Uncle Jason (another first!)
- Nebulizer treatment / antibiotics Not a happy first, but a first. He had two ear infections and a little wheezing mid Nov and the doctor sent us home with some antibiotics (Jack didn't mind, he thought it was delicious) and an inhaler, then eventually a nebulizer. Poor little guy took it like a champ.
- Feeding himself He is starting to be able to pick up little pieces of food but has trouble with the part where he lets the food go in his mouth. It's hilarious to watch.
- First shopping cart ride - He's finally big enough to sit in the cart! But this could be why he got sicks shortly after...
- First french fry - After telling Grandma no for weeks, Joey gave Jack his first french fry (He didn't ask me first. Haha.)
- First time bowling! Jack LOVED the bowling alley. So much to see!
CHALLENGES
- Daycare napping - So since daycares aren't really aloud to have swings (and Jack is growing out of it anyways) there isn't really a good way for someone other than me to get him to nap. Our daycare lady was rocking him in his carseat at first and is now trying to get him to sleep in the playpen. It's only been a few days but it seems promising. I was so worried because I don't want my baby crying himself to sleep but she says he only cries for 2 min and then he's out. I guess I'm ok with 2 min...
- Bedtime safety continued - So as I mentioned last month, bedtime is no longer safe. I nurse Jack down in his cosleeper but have to keep a super close eye on him because if he wakes up he will crawl right off the bed. We have been barricading him in with suitcases since we got back from Atlanta (which is pretty comical actually) but he'll be able to crawl over them soon. Something's gotta give. I think we are going to try bedtime in the packnplay and if that doesn't work, just put our mattress on the floor.
- Babyproofing continued - This little monster is into everything! We finally had to get a gate and partition off part of the living room. He also likes to hang out under my feet. He's a little tripping hazard!
JACK LIKES...
- Still likes...sleeping in the swing, stroller walks, white noise, chewing on things, the carrier, books, standing, his toys jumping in the jumperoo, walking around, screens of all types, the mirror, food, his rattle, the bathtub
- Cereal puffs - OMG, this kid loves his cereal puffs. There is no problem that cereal puffs cannot fix.
- Exploring - He loves searching every square inch of the hardwood floor and finding little crumbs and bits of fuzz - and then putting them in his mouth (EWWWW)
- Playing with his socks - He loves to pull off his socks and suck on them. Weirdo.
- Animals - He loves the cats at daycare and dogs everywhere we go!
- Toys at eye level - He loves anything he can sit or stand and play with.
WE ARE...
This month's photo was especially hard to take. The little munchie just wouldn't sit still!
Ahhh so cute! I feel like there is a big change between 7 and 8 months for Jack. His face looks more full maybe? I don't know I just can't believe how big he is!! Such a handsome boy =)
