Ten months already!? Honestly not too much has changed from last month. I guess things are slowing down a bit...
ESTIMATED SIZE
- Weighs 19ish lbs - Which is actually pretty heavy! It is no longer easy to carry this little sack of potatoes around, especially in the car seat.
- Length probably still around 27.5 inches - No updated measurements
- Still in size 3s but growing out of all the 9 month clothes we just pulled out not too long ago. Bummer! We also lost our hand-me-down hook up so it's time for me to find out where to buy baby clothes!
DAY TO DAY
- Out of the 9 month terrible sleeping phase! - It took us a week or so to train Jack to sleep in the crib again but now he goes down like a champ. For every nap time and bedtime for a week, Joey and I took 15 min shifts patting his back and keeping him down. We just kept saying "No Jack, it's sleepy time." It usually took about 20 min, so it wasn't too bad. We are so glad it worked too because I had to go back to work mid-month and that meant daycare. I did not want to send a baby who can't sleep in a crib to daycare. That would not be fun. We also started a bedtime routine of setting the lights down low and playing soft music for 30 min and made a no naps after 5pm rule. I'm not sure if those things helped but we have a sleeping baby again so I'm happy.
- Back in a routine - So now that sleeping is back on track, we are back in a routine! Wake up at 6:30, play, nap at 9ish, play, nap at 1ish, play, little catnap around 4ish (sometimes), play, bed at 7:30pm. Jack has pretty much lost the afternoon nap and is down to 2 a day. That makes the morning stretch a little rough since he gets tired after an hour and a half but doesn't really nap until 9ish but it's getting better.
- Teething like crazy! - This kid's top front teeth have been coming in forever. They finally broke through but are taking their sweet time coming out. He is a drooly mess.
- Lots of floor playtime - He loves his toys now and will just play for hours with his little eggs and wooden blocks. He crawls all around the living room chatting to himself and waving his arms around. It's adorable. I love to just lay on the floor and watch him. It's my favorite pastime. :)

MILESTONES / FIRSTS
- Biting - He's got top and bottom teeth now. Not fun.
- Haircuts - His hair is growing like crazy and he looks like a little mad scientist. I had to cut it! I did a decent job...
- First superbowl!
- First storytime at the library
- First big daycare - He starts at his new daycare this month and has went to a trial day. There are 11 other kids. Just like being at grandma and grandpa heithaus' house!
CHALLENGES
- Getting sick! We have never been the type of people to cancel plans at the last minute but all that has changed now that we have a baby. Babies (at least babies in daycare) get sick all the time! It's a bummer. Usually it has just been a mild little cold but just enough to throw a wrench in your plans.
- Not too much else really - I guess I could say teething or a little bit of fussiness,or maybe biting or hair pulling, but honestly, things are pretty good right now. I'm loving 10 months!

JACK LIKES...
- Still likes...stroller walks, pulling up, crawling, jumping, the mirror, FOOD, his rattle, the park swing, the bathtub, playing with (and eating) his socks, animals, KPBS, books (especially lift the flap), his activity cube and egg toys, playing with big kids, his toothbrush
- Being thrown in the air
- Going to the grocery store
- Chasing balls around the room (like a cat)
- Watching me brush my teeth - He's liked this for a while but I've just never captured it

Climbing on and through the stools. Sometmes
he gets stuck and panics. It's hilarious. |
WE ARE...
- Thinking that he might not be an early walker after all - He gets where he needs to go crawling and that seems good enough for him.
- Really looking forward to first words - I'm dying to know what this little man is thinking!
- Happy that we are out of the tiny baby phase - and loving having a little kid on our hands
- Ready for these monthly posts to be over! They are a lot of work and I'm always two weeks behind!
